About this job

Is an Airport Infrastructure project the highlight of your year? Who wants to spend their career doing Logistics? Repetitive Pharma? Substations? It’s really common for some Technologists to feel like they’ve ended up in not very interesting places doing not very interesting projects. Those project types probably make shareholders loads of money, but does it make YOU enough that you don’t mind ‘sleepworking’ through your day? Did you really sign up for never ending drag and drop window and door schedules and modelling out plain boxes? Your time could be so much more meaningful and enjoyable.  Especially because of how seriously Technologists are taken at this practice. It’s a RIBA registered practice, but it’s also CIAT registered. Techs have equal opportunities with Architects… so much so that the MD is a Technologist. You’ll be an Associate in no time, their structure and growth is crying out for you to achieve this in the next few years.  You’d also be engaged and challenged enough to stay awake for all 37.5 hours of your working week. Do you think repurposed underground bunkers for Hospitality, Conical cut out facades, city centre master plans or imaginative sustainable civic new builds might reawaken something in you? That’s just the start. You’d work in a business that takes social value and corporate responsibility very seriously. That means a low carbon commitment in design, but it also means you could spend hours and hours of paid time on pro bono work that interests you or is important personally.  You could enjoy volunteer days away from work, planting trees in nature, discussing the role of a Technologist at schools or helping out at food banks.  Wouldn’t it also be nice to work somewhere that they can afford to pay well on the basic, offer very significant bonuses and aren’t hand to mouth on resources and finances. Making it a low stress environment with manageable well staffed deadlines.  More about the Day to Day
  • You’ll be the lead technologist or project lead or a big package lead on most of the things you touch depending upon your experience / preference.
  • You’ll work in Revit, on collaborative projects.
  • It’s a client facing job. You’ll be a lead technical advisor to lots of different parties in any project.
  • You’ll look after and mentor lots of people inside and outside of your teams.
  • You’ll check drawings. Someone’s got to make sure the Architects are getting the details right.
  • You’ll collaborate without external multidisciplinary design teams.
  • As often as you fancy you’ll be on site or supporting the design teams at interview or on competitions and bids.
What you’ll need:
  • Experience as a Senior Architectural Technologist.
  • Revit experience.
  • You’ll be used to working as a lead consultant on large complex building types.
  • Experience mentoring and soft management of small or medium sized teams.
